Unique laser cutter

The Amada Ensis laser cutter purchased by Fastron Hungaria Kft. and put into series operation is considered a unique processing machine in Hungary. One of the company's managing directors, Péter Varga, reported on the machine and its possibilities of use.

In which production processes does the newly acquired laser cutter represent an improvement?

Our company has been working with Amada machines with great satisfaction for several decades, and we are also satisfied with the Hungarian EPL Tech Kft. as a sales, service and support partner, which was also a strong argument in our investment decision.

The Amada Ensis 3015 AJRI (3kW) fiber laser with a tube rotating unit (Rotary Index) is a combined machine that enables a flexible and quick transition from flat plate cutting to tube and closed section processing. The special feature of the Ensis laser source developed by the manufacturer is that it is a continuously regulated beam source, which results in outstanding cutting quality and speed, all combined with the energy-saving solutions of the fiber laser machine. The machine can cut large-format sheets up to 25 mm thick and pipes up to 6 meters long and up to 220 mm in diameter.

What changes does the machine represent?

In the past, we either obtained these works from a cooperation partner or, more time-consuming, processed them on flatbed laser machines by capturing them in a template per page, and then, if necessary, manually rotating them. According to our knowledge, even in Western Europe, only a few of these machines are currently in operation, and this is certainly the first machining machine of this type in Hungary, so we expect an increase in interest in the future. With this machine investment, we can also increase our capacity, our cutting machine park in Tolna currently consists of 2 Fiberlasers, 1 CO-laser and 5 punching machines.

In our sheet metal processing plant, we have long-term partnerships with many industry market leaders, from medical technology to security equipment to entertainment electronics. The products that make up the majority of our turnover arrive to our customers as complex pre-assembled or ready-assembled units.

Are parts for the automotive industry also produced with the help of this machine?

With our fiber laser, which is also equipped with a new pipe cutting function, we can process our own closed section needs much more efficiently, but we are looking for additional partners to tie up the capacity of the machine. Our main strategic focus is on our existing customer base and customers active in industrial electronics, but if there is an inquiry from the direction of automotive use, we will look into that as well. 

The goal is to deliver assembled products with added value as much as possible, from engineering support design to sheet metal processing, welding, painting and complete assembly, covering with it our entire production spectrum.

Can you take on more orders with the help of the new machine?

With the shortening of the changeover times due to the new machine, our flexibility has improved significantly and we can certainly provide greater capacity to our existing and new customers.

The company's management has unwavering faith in development, and in addition to managing the epidemiological situation, we are trying to focus as much as possible on our previous goals.
